Sultan celebrates Najeem Jimoh at 74, urges young journalists to emulate veteran
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has congratulated veteran journalist and former Editor of The PUNCH, Alhaji Najeem Jimoh, on his 74th birthday.
The Sultan, in a congratulatory message, described Jimoh as an accomplished journalist and distinguished media professional whose decades of service had contributed significantly to the growth and development of journalism and public discourse in Nigeria.
He commended the veteran journalist for his professionalism, courage, discipline and commitment to responsible journalism, noting that his career exemplified the role the media could play in promoting peace, justice and national cohesion.
The Sultan particularly urged young and upcoming journalists to study and emulate Jimoh’s professional values and wealth of experience, stressing that the younger generation had much to learn from his long and distinguished career in the media industry.
According to him, Jimoh’s contribution to journalism remains an enduring example of how professionalism, integrity and dedication can be deployed in the service of society and the nation.
The Sultan prayed Almighty Allah to continue to grant Jimoh good health, wisdom and strength, while wishing him many more years of fruitful service to humanity, journalism and Nigeria.
