PTML Customs Command Strengthens Leadership Capacity, Rewards Outstanding Officers

The Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, organised a leadership seminar for senior officers as part of efforts to enhance professionalism, teamwork and service delivery.

The seminar, held at the Conference Hall of the PTML Command, was organised in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, FNIPR, PSC+, to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.

Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Area Controller, DC Nura Ibrahim Miko, said effective leadership remained crucial to the attainment of the Nigeria Customs Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.

Miko said the Command would continue to support initiatives that promote the welfare, health and productivity of its officers, citing the recently commenced Work-Life Balance Initiative as one of such measures.

The seminar featured sessions on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct.

The Acting Area Controller delivered the first session, titled, “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence.”

He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the seminar to their daily responsibilities, stressing that improved leadership and collaboration were essential to delivering better results.

Miko also reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and the continuous promotion of ease of doing business.

Participants at the seminar were drawn from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to two officers in recognition of their outstanding dedication and service.

The award recipients were Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit of the Command.

Presenting the certificates, the Acting Area Controller commended the officers for their diligence, selflessness and commitment to duty, noting that the Command had mechanisms for identifying and rewarding personnel who distinguish themselves through efficient and dedicated service.

He consequently urged all officers to remain committed to giving their best in the service of the nation.
