PLATEAU ATTACK: POLICE STEP UP OPERATIONS, DEPLOY FORCES TO RESTORE CALM

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, located in Jos North, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives.

In response, the IGP has ordered a large-scale deployment of security personnel and resources across Plateau State to restore peace and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

He expressed deep sympathy to the state government, affected families, and residents of the community over the tragic incident.

As part of immediate measures, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, has been deployed to the state to assess the situation and coordinate security efforts on ground.

The police have also reinforced operations with additional tactical teams, including units of the Police Mobile Force and intelligence operatives, working alongside other security agencies to prevent further violence and strengthen security presence.

The IGP assured that operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored, directing commanders to maintain visible policing and engage closely with communities at risk.

He further urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, while cautioning against taking the law into their own hands.
