Apapa Customs Sets ₦28bn Single-Day Revenue Record

…as Oshoba says compliant trade drives national development

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has achieved a new revenue milestone, collecting ₦28.102 billion in a single day on Tuesday, August 18, 2026—the highest daily revenue ever recorded by the Command.

The latest feat surpassed the previous record of ₦20.1 billion, achieved in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as the Customs Area Controller (CAC).

The record-breaking collection comes weeks after the Command posted an unprecedented ₦323 billion in revenue in July 2026, reflecting the impact of improved compliance, trade facilitation, intelligence-driven operations and enhanced digital Customs processes.

Speaking on the development, Oshoba said the achievement was more than a revenue figure, stressing that Customs revenue contributes to government resources used to fund critical sectors such as infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.

He dedicated the milestone to the government and people of Nigeria while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the management of the Service for supporting reforms, automation and modernisation aimed at improving Customs operations.

The CAC also appreciated compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders for their cooperation, as well as Nigerians who have provided useful intelligence to the Service.

Oshoba emphasised that every compliant transaction contributes to national development, urging stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade and compliance.

He charged officers and men of the Command to remain focused and avoid complacency, noting that the revenue milestone comes with greater responsibility. He stressed that revenue generation must go hand in hand with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for legitimate businesses.

The CAC further directed personnel to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily impede lawful trade.

He said the Apapa Area Command would continue to build on the achievement through increased revenue generation, trade facilitation, professionalism and stronger stakeholder collaboration.

The Command, he added, remains committed to ensuring that legitimate revenue collected by Customs strengthens the government’s capacity to deliver on its development priorities and improve the lives of Nigerians.
