Access Bank Warns Public Against WhatsApp Investment Scam Impersonating Chairman

Lagos, Nigeria – Access Holdings Plc has issued a public advisory urging customers and the general public to remain vigilant following the emergence of a fraudulent WhatsApp scheme impersonating its Chairman, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

According to the company, scammers have created a fake WhatsApp group named “Value Focus Club 60” using the phone number +234 915 708 8290, falsely presenting it as an investment platform endorsed by the Chairman. The perpetrators reportedly used his image and identity to lend credibility to the scheme and lure unsuspecting individuals.

Access Holdings emphasized that its Chairman does not operate any WhatsApp investment group and that the company does not provide investment advice or opportunities via WhatsApp or similar informal channels. Any such claims, it noted, are fraudulent.

The scheme was uncovered by a whistleblower who raised the alarm, prompting swift action and an ongoing effort by the company to shut down the fraudulent operation.

The bank has advised the public to avoid engaging with the group, refrain from sharing personal or financial information, and immediately block and report the suspicious number on WhatsApp. Customers are also encouraged to share the warning widely to help prevent others from falling victim.

Access Holdings reiterated its commitment to safeguarding customers and urged continued vigilance as digital scams become increasingly sophisticated.
