Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc Posts N3.13bn PBT, Doubles Dividend on Strong 2025 Performance

Lagos, March 31, 2026 – Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc has reported a profit before tax of N3.13 billion for the financial year ended December 31, 2025, representing a significant increase from N1.23 billion recorded in 2024.

The bank disclosed this in its audited financial results submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Group, highlighting strong growth across key performance indicators.

Profit after tax rose to N2.16 billion from N1.07 billion in the previous year, while gross interest income grew by 58.7 per cent year-on-year to N18.97 billion. Earnings per share also improved to 21 kobo, up from 11 kobo in 2024.

Customer deposits increased markedly to N79.63 billion, compared to N53.90 billion recorded a year earlier, reflecting improved customer confidence and expanded deposit mobilisation efforts.

On the strength of the performance, the Board of Directors has recommended a dividend of 12 kobo per share for the 2025 financial year—double the 6 kobo paid in the preceding year.

The bank’s balance sheet also showed robust expansion, with total assets rising to N165.8 billion from N84.3 billion in 2024. Investment securities accounted for a significant portion of this growth, increasing by 98.5 per cent to N106.57 billion.

Similarly, bank balances and short-term placements surged by 214 per cent to N43.7 billion, underscoring improved liquidity positioning during the period.

However, the bank’s loan book declined slightly to N9.72 billion from N12.07 billion, largely due to customer repayments within the year.

Total liabilities stood at N155 billion, up from N75 billion in 2024, with customer deposits accounting for a major share at N79.6 billion. Deposits for shares rose sharply to N49.2 billion from N4 billion, while funds for on-lending increased to N9.5 billion.

Shareholders’ funds also grew to N10.79 billion from N9.23 billion, driven primarily by retained earnings, which rose to N2.4 billion from N1.1 billion.

Commenting on the results, Managing Director of the bank, Mobolaji Adewumi, said the institution remains committed to its core mandate of delivering innovative mortgage and banking services to Nigerians.

He added that the bank’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) would provide shareholders the opportunity to engage with the board on the financial performance and strategic direction of the institution.

Founded in 1991 and listed on the Nigerian Exchange, Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc is a leading primary mortgage institution focused on expanding access to housing finance and delivering tailored financial solutions to its customers.
