Minister Commends Transparency, Orderliness in Ongoing Police Recruitment

The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has praised the smooth and transparent conduct of the ongoing nationwide police recruitment exercise, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening public trust and enhancing the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement conveyed through his Special Assistant, Lima Goje, and shared with the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, the Minister said feedback from field officers across the country points to a well-organized and credible screening process.

Gaidam emphasized that the exercise goes beyond routine hiring, noting that it represents a deliberate effort to rebuild confidence in policing while equipping the force with competent and committed personnel. He urged applicants to remain disciplined, patient, and law-abiding, stressing that integrity and respect for due process are just as important as meeting physical and academic requirements.

“This is more than recruitment; it is a call to national service,” he said, highlighting the need for officers who embody honor and understand the critical role of security in national development.

The Minister also commended the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 police personnel, describing it as a bold move to address manpower shortages and reposition the force to tackle evolving security challenges.

According to him, the initiative reflects a broader reform agenda focused on professionalism, accountability, and improved welfare for officers. He added that enhanced training frameworks and operational support are part of ongoing efforts to build a more responsive and citizen-centered police system.

Gaidam noted that the recruitment exercise symbolizes renewed hope for a safer Nigeria, where communities feel protected and the rule of law is upheld.
