FG Dedicates Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to Tinubu, Says Vision Began 27 Years Ago
ABUJA — The Federal Government has officially renamed the 750-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the multi-trillion-naira infrastructure project as the fulfilment of a vision he conceived nearly three decades ago.
Announcing the decision in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the ministry unanimously approved naming the landmark highway after the President in recognition of his commitment to delivering what has become one of the administration’s flagship infrastructure projects.
Umahi said the coastal highway, estimated to cost about ₦15 trillion upon completion, was a dream Tinubu conceived about 27 years ago while serving as Governor of Lagos State. He added that the first section of the project is nearing completion, despite controversies that have trailed its execution since construction began in March 2024.
