Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Sweeps Senate Leader Bamidele’s Polling Unit

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Governor of Ekiti State Biodun Oyebanji recorded a decisive victory at the polling unit of Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, during Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

Announcing the result, the Presiding Officer, Ms. Elizabeth Oregbemeh, disclosed that Oyebanji polled 164 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, who secured eight votes.

The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr. Ayodeji Ojo, came a distant third with one vote.

Speaking after casting his vote, Bamidele expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election and applauded voters for their turnout across the state.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely deployment of electoral officers and materials to polling units across Ekiti State’s 16 local government areas.

According to INEC figures, 1,028,929 voters collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) out of the 1,059,360 registered voters in the state ahead of the election.
