Baba Aladura Urges Renewed Focus on Evangelism, Revival Messaging
His Most Eminence, Baba Aladura and Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide (ESOCS), Elder Dr. David D.L. Bob-Manuel, has called for a renewed and strategic approach to the Great Commission, emphasizing the need for intentional revival messaging across the Holy Order.
The call comes as the church steps into its second century, following its centenary celebration on September 9, 2025.
Speaking at the third edition of the ESOCS National Strategic Retreat, convened for provincial leaders, Conference Management Committees (CMCs), and heads of various church organs, Baba Aladura stressed the urgency of repositioning the church for greater spiritual impact in a rapidly evolving world.
The retreat provided a platform for leaders and administrators to deliberate on practical strategies to strengthen the spiritual lives of members while expanding the church’s influence within the broader ecumenical community. Discussions also focused on how to responsibly integrate modern technological tools, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), without compromising the church’s foundational values.
Highlighting the significance of the moment, coming shortly after the church’s 100th anniversary, Baba Aladura described the new dispensation as a period that demands innovation anchored in tradition.
He noted that technology should be harnessed to preserve and enhance the spiritual heritage handed down by the founding fathers, rather than erode it.
“Our gathering is inspired by the power of the Holy Spirit to generate ideas that will enable us to remain effective witnesses in this era,” he said. “We are looking toward a great revival that will sweep across the Cherubim and Seraphim Church globally—not as a mere religious exercise, but as a transformative movement.”
He further emphasized unity and spiritual discipline as prerequisites for revival, drawing parallels with the early church experience recorded in Acts of the Apostles.
“With Christ as our foundation, this new dawn will usher in a revival reminiscent of the apostolic era. However, we must be united, spiritually aligned, and guided by the Holy Spirit—confessing our shortcomings and turning away from divisive tendencies,” he stated.
Baba Aladura underscored that evangelism must move beyond rhetoric and become a core responsibility for every member of the church.
“Preaching the gospel in this dispensation must be compulsory for all ESOCS members. It is not optional—it is a divine mandate: ‘Go ye into the world and preach the gospel to every creature’ (Mark 16:15),” he said, reiterating the foundational mission of the church.
He also charged church leaders to lead by example, stressing that effective ministry requires not only proclamation but also a lifestyle that reflects the teachings of Christ.
Encouraging participants at the retreat, he urged them to embrace their calling fully and step into the world as ambassadors of the gospel, equipped both in word and in conduct.
