2027 Election: Focus on Facts, Data, and Policy Records, Hamzat Tells Lagos APC Campaign Council

LAGOS, Nigeria — The Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has urged party members to build their 2027 election campaign on verifiable performance metrics rather than political emotionalism.

Speaking on Friday at the official inauguration of the Lagos APC Campaign Council at the party secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Hamzat emphasized that both the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have strong, data-driven track records to present to voters.

“It is not about emotion. It is about data and records,” Hamzat stated. “When you look at our reforms, taxation, infrastructure, agriculture, and security, we have tangible achievements to bring to the electorate. Our campaign must confidently explain these reforms and their long-term benefits.”

Highlighting signature projects like the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Hamzat noted that sustained infrastructure investment is critical to maintaining Lagos State’s vital role as Nigeria’s primary economic driver. He tasked campaign members with grassroots mobilization, urging them to engage local communities, religious groups, and neighbors to turn party support into votes at the polls.

Also addressing the council, the Director-General of the PBAT/KOH 2027 Campaign Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, called on party members to set aside internal differences and function as a disciplined, unified unit. Obanikoro cautioned against viewing campaign appointments as ceremonial roles, stressing that victory will require sacrifice and coordinated community outreach.

Earlier, Lagos APC Chairman Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi outlined the party’s grassroots strategy, dubbed “Operation Man Your Polling Booth.” Under the plan, party leaders will be deployed across all 13,565 polling units in the state to drive local mobilization, targeting five million out of an estimated seven million votes in Lagos.
