Lagos State Baales Forum Flags Off “Operation Show Your PVC” Campaign in Epe Division

Traditional Leaders, Government Officials Mobilise Residents for PVC Registration and Civic Participation

LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Lagos State Baales Forum has announced the commencement of its divisional civic awareness, Permanent Voter Card (PVC) sensitisation, and community engagement exercise in the Epe Division as part of efforts to deepen grassroots democratic participation and community security across Lagos State.

Following the successful launch of the initiative in the Ikorodu Division, the Epe Division edition of the campaign is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Ibeju Lekki Local Government Secretariat by 10:00 a.m. prompt.

The sensitisation programme, themed “Operation Show Your PVC,” is a strategic collaboration between the Lagos State Government and traditional grassroots leadership structures aimed at encouraging mass voter registration, political inclusion, and active civic participation ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

The event is expected to attract a wide range of participants, including traditional rulers, Baales, youth groups, market leaders, artisan associations, first-time voters, and residents across the Epe Division.

Key Dignitaries and Stakeholders

The high-level grassroots mobilisation programme will feature notable government officials, political stakeholders, and respected traditional leaders.

The event will be hosted by the Honourable Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.

Co-hosts include Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Conference 57, the umbrella body of Local Government Chairmen in Lagos State, and Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, Director General of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Independent Campaign Group (PBAT-KOH ICG).

The Chief Host and Inviter is Abu Jelili Ododo, Oba-Elect of Ijeododo Kingdom and Chairman of the Lagos State Baales Forum, while the programme is convened by Seyi Bamigbade.

Campaign Objectives

Speaking on the initiative, the Convener of the Forum, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, explained that the “Operation Show Your PVC” campaign is built on four key pillars aimed at strengthening democracy and community development at the grassroots level.

According to him, the campaign seeks to educate residents on the importance of obtaining, collecting, and safeguarding their Permanent Voter Cards as critical tools for democratic participation.

The initiative also focuses on political mobilisation by encouraging broader democratic inclusion and ensuring that voter turnout in Lagos State adequately reflects its growing population.

Additionally, the programme aims to deepen awareness on the continuity of progressive governance, sustainable infrastructure development, and the Renewed Hope agenda, while also leveraging the extensive network of traditional community leaders to enhance grassroots security and peaceful coexistence.

Call to Participation

The Chairman of the Lagos State Baales Forum, High Chief Abu Jelili Ododo, alongside members of the local organising committee, has extended an open invitation to members of the public, community stakeholders, market associations, youth organisations, and all eligible voters within the Epe Division to actively participate in the engagement.

As part of the exercise, support services for independent electoral registration, PVC transfers, and voter guidance for first-time registrants will also be made available to ensure that every eligible voice is captured and represented in the democratic process.

The Forum reiterated its commitment to strengthening grassroots engagement, civic responsibility, and peaceful community participation across all divisions of Lagos State.
