Ooni Praises Adeniyi’s Impact, Says Tinubu’s Commendation Reflects Confidence in Customs Boss

The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has applauded the leadership of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, describing him as a unifying figure whose contributions to national development and community advancement continue to earn widespread recognition.

Speaking during the annual Eid-el-Kabir celebration hosted by Adeniyi at his residence in Modakeke, Osun State, on May 28, 2026, the revered monarch said President Bola Tinubu’s public commendation of the Customs chief underscores the confidence reposed in him by the Federal Government.

The event brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, senior Customs officers, community stakeholders, family members, friends, and associates in a gathering marked by goodwill and reflection.

According to the Ooni, the President’s expression of satisfaction with Adeniyi’s performance was a testament to the remarkable progress being recorded under his leadership at the Nigeria Customs Service.

“We are proud of him and the work he is doing. The President’s commendation was a clear indication of trust in his ability and the results he is delivering. His achievements within the Customs Service and his commitment to community development demonstrate the qualities of a true leader and unifier,” the monarch said.

The Ooni further pledged the continued support and prayers of the Ife Kingdom for the Customs boss, noting that leadership is best measured by the ability to bring people together and inspire collective progress.

In his remarks, Adeniyi expressed gratitude to the Ooni, community leaders, family members, friends, associates, and other guests for their unwavering support over the years.

He described Eid-el-Kabir as a period that highlights the values of sacrifice, gratitude, obedience, and service to humanity, adding that the annual gathering serves as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and reflect on the shared responsibility of nation-building.

The Customs chief noted that the Nigeria Customs Service has continued to make significant strides in revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, technological innovation, and corporate social responsibility initiatives in line with the economic priorities of the Federal Government.

He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda through reforms designed to facilitate legitimate trade, enhance national security, improve compliance, and stimulate economic growth.

Adeniyi also highlighted the Service’s investment in community-focused projects across the country, including educational support programmes, healthcare interventions, and other initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

He assured stakeholders that the Customs Service would remain focused on professionalism, transparency, and service excellence while pursuing reforms that strengthen its operations and deliver greater value to the nation.

The Comptroller-General further thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and pledged the Service’s continued support for government policies geared toward economic prosperity, sustainable development, and national progress.
